![]() ^ An all around horrific product, if you grade every aspect of a game (Interfacing, Usability, Graphics, Performance, Controls, GUI, etc.) ^ One of the worst interfaces in the history of gaming the simpler graphics lend itself better to the fun of the gameplay.Ĭlick to expand.Definitely not true in the indie scene. but i think? it has to be vector art? not bitmap?Īnd actually i cant stand battlefield bad company 2 (havent played 3 or 4), its too high graphics, theres like too much info for my mind to process or something? LOL i play "battlefieldplay4free" despite the pay2win crap, i find it waaaay funner. although i guess there IS like anime studio? where you can put bones on a 2d image. but i found 2d animation to be a pain, and 3d animation is SUPER SIMPLE Id sooo wish i could draw like those games. otherwise i think its 1000x better than like battlefield 4 they only look crappy now because their native resolution is 800圆00. The BEST graphics i think is like, diablo 2, divine divinity, baldurs gate, stronghold crusader. but when a game looks more fantastical, it feels more suited for a game. and whenever anything is sorta unrealistic in a realistic looking graphics game, it feels lame and out of place, and i find myself complaining about it. its more suited for a game, when you become too realistic looking, it removes the "wonder" and "fantasy" from the game. I personally think 2d SNES style is WAAY better than even battlefield 4 graphics. I sorta dont like how Everything! in shovel knight has a black border. Shovel knight appears to have taken more effort, but to me, I wouldnt necessarily say it looks better they both look good, and look crappy in different ways. LOLĬlick to expand.which one is supposed to be "better". but if i made it 256x256 itd look CRAPĪlthough as you can see in unity screenshot, you cant even see the details. I think a big problem that makes a game look crappy, is low resolution. that grass is temporary, it was for a different project. still adjusting stuff, maybe slightly zoomed in itll be. ![]() looks great, more than required for the size he'll mostly be viewed at. also he looks this way because it is low poly 486 tris, 777 tris with ak47 The ak47 was a straight up trace job, took 15 minutes max haha whatever, its a game, i like the uniform's colors) with minor detailing.Ĭheck out the character i made recently its pretty basic, i basically just traced anatomical picutres of a dude and single colored, and put some outlines of pockets and belt (lol its a ww2 ranger with a ak47. the computer does most the work for you ( the texturing 2D is the hard part)īut the textures can be as simple as a single color. i couldnt even imagine the correct look of other angles, it was real hard to me.ģd is really kinda lazy compared to 2d. In 2d you have to animate each frame from each angle. You animate it once, and you have all angles The #1 thing that made me settle with 3d. Ive tried making 2d, and now iam making 3d. Or check out risk of rain it looks pretty good, but its just like 10 pixels for the main character (although i cant stand minecrafts default textures (too low res 16x 16? doom wasnt that small), always gotta have a texture pack, but the 3d objects as they are look fine) they have a very minimalist artwork, and much gameplay.
